FOR REVIEWERS
Whether you’re a first time Doody’s reviewer or a seasoned veteran, this is your one-stop shop for everything you need to complete your review once you have your book in hand.
Resources to Get You Started
Editorial Guidelines (updated 2025)
These guidelines offer important criteria for a successful Doody's review as well as a strategic reading process and basic style suggestions.
Questionnaire & Review Template (updated 2025)
This template previews the questionnaire and narrative sections you are asked to complete as part of the review process. Use these documents to prepare your review prior to submitting it at the review process site.
Example Review
Some reviewers might find it helpful to see a published review as an example. We recommend consulting your Editorial Review Group Chair for more examples or for feedback on your review before you submit it.
Pro Tip: We often get asked if we publish constructive or negative reviews. We absolutely do! While we always hope that you love a book, we understand that they won’t all be winners. Our review process allows you to speak objectively about the book’s strengths and weaknesses so evidencing a negative expert opinion is straightforward.
