2025 Changes to Doody’s Core Titles

We are excited to announce two new specialties for Doody’s Core Titles® 2025: Health Humanities and Osteopathic Medicine.

After several years of methodical updates to our subject taxonomy and gauging customer feedback, we are thrilled to offer two completely new specialties for DCT 2025. These additions are natural extensions of the major modifications we made to the DCT taxonomy and process in 2024.

Health Humanities includes titles related to the application of arts and humanities lenses and methodologies to medicine, nursing, and other health fields. In the past, some of these titles in this area have been included as part of the Medical Education specialty. Forming this new specialty has created more space for both fields to be expressed more completely.

Osteopathic Medicine is an entirely novel specialty to DCT; it does not have a precursor specialty from previous editions. Titles in this specialty adopt and apply a “whole-person” approach and physical manipulation techniques to the practice of medicine. The inclusion of Osteopathic Medicine will make DCT a better tool for libraries that support osteopathic medicine programs.

Doody Enterprises would like to thank the following individuals for their esteemed contributions to the difficult and regularly amorphous task of inaugurating these specialties:

  • Brian Schwartz, PhD, MLIS, Rocky Vista University, Content Specialist and advisor

  • Kristin Putnam, DO, Rocky Vista University, Content Specialist and advisor

  • Yumi Yaguchi, MSIS, AHIP-D, University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine, Doody’s Library Board of Advisors member & Librarian Selector
